RSPO - more sustainability for Personal Care

The sustainable and responsible promotion of natural and renewable resources is also our goal at FrankenChemie. In order to support the RSPO organisation, we have obtained certification.

1. What is RSPO?

Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil

The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil is a non-profit organisation with the aim to introduce environmentally friendly and sustainable farming practices worldwide and to standardise them as the norm. Members of the organisation are environmental conservation associations and other non-governmental organisations, such as companies and institutions from the value chain of raw materials, e.g. plantation operators, merchants and processors, including our contract partner Evonik Nutrition & Care GmbH and, in the near future, FrankenChemie.

For more information, visit the organisation’s homepage at http://www.rspo.org.

2. Why RSPO and how does the certification work?

The certification by the RSPO organisation allows all members to contribute to sustainable environmental protection and conservation and to promote a responsible approach to the social situation, such as working conditions on the palm plantations. The RSPO quality seal on products that have been produced from palm oil or palm kernel oil signals the environmentally conscious origin and the use of sustainable oil. In order to use the trademark, all participants of the supply chain must be certified and are required to have a licence number. The RSPO has identified four supply chain systems for the trade of RSPO-certified palm oil and its products. The raw materials from Evonik are based on two of the four systems, the segregated palm oil (SG) with the designation "certified" and the palm oil from mass balance (MB) with the designation "mixed".

The current status of our certification can be viewed under point 4.
